For all rentals, a security deposit is required 24 hours before the start of the rental via a hold on the renter’s bank card.
The hold is cancelled at the end of the rental if no problems have been recorded with the vehicle hired. Please note, however, that an inter-bank delay of up to ten days may occur before the amount of the hold is released from the linked bank card. There is no way to reduce this period, and OuiCar has no influence over this and no ability to correct any problems.
In the event that the vehicle is damaged during the rental, the security deposit will then be increased to cover the amount of the insurance excess if the amount charged is larger than the deposit.
As a reminder, the insurance excess is 1,000 euro in the event of an accident, and 250 euro if the renter has selected the “excess reduction” option* and zero if the “zero excess” option has option, but it can be as high as 2,000 euro in the event that the renter fails to return the vehicle.

How does this ensure greater security for you?
OuiCar processes the security deposit by taking it directly from the renter’s account. This means that you don’t have to worry about the validity of the deposit. Nevertheless, we ask you to be particularly vigilant when checking the bank card presented when the keys are handed over. Indeed, this is the card that acts as a safety deposit for us, and if the bank card cannot be presented or does not belong to the person named on the contract, the rental cannot take place. You should therefore contact us to cancel the rental.
